Cannot boot to an upgraded Windows 10 on Zotac Mini-PC due to UEFI

If you switched hard drives with different Windows versions or temporarily booted a to a Linux distribution after changing UEFI settings on the BIOS, you might have problems booting back to Windows 10. Windows 10 will attempt to repair itself or crash completely.  In particular, if you upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8/8.1 and then Windows 10, some generic BIOS found on mini-PCs, such as those manufactured from Zotac, require changes to the UEFI settings.

To set the BIOS of a Zotac ZBOX to boot to a system that upgraded to Windows 10:

1. Press the Delete button on boot.

2. On the Boot tab, select Legacy Only on the Boot Mode item.

3. On the OS Selection item, select Windows 7.

3. Press F10 to save and exit.

Note: If the operating system was originally Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, select Windows 8 UEFI for Boot Mode. Note that selecting Legacy Only disables any security UEFI provides for your machine.
